In our time working in Brazil, we were designing huge multi-story shopping centres from which it was impossible to escape, but here local regulations, land size, and client’s budget did not allow for such an exaggeration. Luckily.

As the land was at the edge of the city, we wanted to bring some vitality into the area, and the only way was to mix shopping, business and entertainment. The shopping centre developed on two floors, with the second floor hosting a large food court with a mix of fast food and regular restaurants, and a cinema. The business hotel had 7 floors and included business facilities. The entertainment area was on the rooftop of the shopping centre, almost an extension of the hotel, and included several bars and a 24h cafe. The three blocks were interconnected but at the same time could be accessed or closed separately.

The idea was to regenerate the area, and utilise the resources in the best possible way. The 2007 crisis, however, killed the project.
